Psychotherapy

Healing doesn’t always start with words. At Project Whetstone, therapy is grounded in how trauma actually lives in the body, brain, and nervous system—not just in memory.

Our licensed clinicians specialize in evidence-based interventions designed to help you process what happened in a safe, supportive environment—and move toward a life that feels whole again.

We meet you where you are, and walk with you every step of the way.

EMDR
(Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

Begin Your Journey Today

Trauma can disrupt the way the brain stores memories, often leaving them feeling raw, present, and overwhelming. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they lose their emotional intensity and settle into the past where they belong.

Guided by a trained therapist, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, tapping, or sound—to support the brain’s natural ability to heal.

This approach can help you:

  • Lessen the emotional charge of traumatic memories

  • Shift painful beliefs like “I’m broken” or “It was my fault”

  • Build internal strengths like calm, clarity, and confidence

EMDR is trusted by military, first responder, and trauma recovery communities worldwide.

Trauma often hijacks the nervous system, locking the body into patterns of fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. Through somatic and polyvagal-informed therapy, clients learn to recognize these patterns and gently shift toward safety and regulation.

Sessions may include:

  • Breathwork and grounding practices

  • Guided imagery or movement

  • Tools to activate or calm the nervous system

These techniques help build body awareness, emotional resilience, and a renewed sense of control.

Brainspotting

When words fall short, Brainspotting offers another path. This method locates precise eye positions, or “brainspots,” linked to unprocessed trauma held deep in the brain and body.

By maintaining focus on a brainspot with the support of a clinician, the body and nervous system are given space to naturally release stored emotional and physical pain.

Brainspotting can support:

  • Deep processing without needing to retell your story

  • Relief from chronic stress, pain, or shutdown responses

  • Emotional shifts and body-based healing at a gentle pace

Every approach we use is trauma-informed, meaning we work collaboratively, at your pace, with your safety as our top priority. Therapy isn’t about reliving pain—it’s about creating space for healing in a way that honors your readiness and boundaries.

You remain in control, each step of the way.

We believe healing is possible for every veteran and first responder we serve. Whether you’re carrying trauma from the battlefield, the front lines, or from life itself, your story matters.

Let’s get to work, together.

What Can You Expect?

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

Coming Soon

Designed for veterans who want to keep growing after trauma therapy, the Resilience Lab will offer ongoing support, tools for daily life, and leadership development in a format that’s practical, engaging, and built for real-world challenges.

What the Lab Will Offer:

  • Advanced coping tools to handle triggers, stress, and relational conflict

  • Workshops and intensives on topics like emotion regulation, moral injury, identity reintegration, and post-traumatic growth

  • Train-the-mentor programs to help you support others from a trauma-informed place

  • Veteran-led community events that foster connection, service, and purpose

Where individual therapy helps process what’s behind you, the Resilience Lab is about what’s ahead. It’s a place to sharpen your skills, strengthen your voice, and step into the next phase of your life with clarity and power. We believe in long-term healing—not short-term fixes. The Resilience Lab will carry that mission forward.
